Over Inverted Date

This was one of the major varieties of the 1858 Seated Liberty Half Dime. This variety features an inverted date that was struck in the initial strike and then the primary date was struck over the inverted date. One way to identify this coin is to note bits of the underlying numbers between the numbers of the actual date.
